Kosmic Film Entertainment is proud to present Singapore’s first ever major Japanese Pop (J-pop) concert – the Singapore leg of the much-anticipated “The Tour of Misia Discotheque Asia”. Held in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of her career in the music industry, Misia’s Asia Tour 2008 promises to wow audiences with a stunning auditory and visual experience in Taipei, Singapore, Shanghai, Seoul, and Hong Kong. Japanese powerhouse vocalist Misia is set to blow the Singapore audience away in a one-night only concert on 13th September 2008 at Singapore Expo.
Highly acclaimed by many, Misia is the only Asian singer to possess an impressive five-octave range of vocals (The Whistle Octave). For this, she is known as the “Mariah Carey of Japan”, a title recognized by many as testimony to her amazing singing prowess. When Misia debuted in 1998, it marked the beginning of a shift towards a more soulful, R&B-influenced brand of Japanese Pop. She has played an extremely important role in setting off the R&B trend in Japan, paving the way for artistes like Utada Hikaru and Crystal Kay.
Misia’s seventh single “Everything”, released in October 2000, served as the theme song for Fuji TV drama “Yamato Nadeshiko” (starring top Japanese actress Nanako Matsushima) and peaked at #1 within its first week of release. To date, “Everything” remains Misia’s best-selling single and is also the second best-selling Japanese single of all time by a solo artiste. As a sign of her drawing power and as an acknowledgement of her prestigious status in the Japanese music scene, Japan state-run broadcaster NHK made Misia's song Never Ending Story a de facto national anthem by using it as the theme for its coverage of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Misia also holds the distinction of being the first ever female solo act to tour five major-domed stadiums in Japan in 2004 with critical success. On 29 September 2007, Misia held her first overseas concert in Taiwan, garnering tremendously positive responses and resulting in a huge success.
Year 2008 is the 10th year of debut for MISIA. In commemoration of the anniversary, she has launched 2 singles, one of which is "Yes Forever" featured in a commercial of Kose Cosmetics' new "Sekkisei" and the other is "Yakusoku No Tsubasa", the theme from a film "Boku No Kanojowa Cyborg" released on May 28th. Now she is set to release a big title to complete the 3-month continual release spree! "My Best DJ Remix Awards+The Tour Of Misia 2008 Eighth World" is a gorgeous package of a remix CD and DVD featuring full footages from the final date of "THE TOUR OF MISIA 2008 EIGHTH WORLD", her arena tour that continued from last year to February this year. The remix CD contains the truly "best" remix titles selected by Misia herself among all that have been released so far, including several of her hit singles!
With the launch of three new consecutive releases from April to June in 2008 creating much hype for her, Misia is set to take Singapore by storm with her upcoming Asia Tour concert. Look forward to a sensational and powerful showcase of Misia’s well-loved old and new singles from her eight studio albums, with energetic and vibrant entertainment provided by magnificent lighting designs and on-stage dancers!
Indulge in the astounding vocal aptitude Misia is set to bring to Singapore in the coming month of September!
